Our mission
At Theodora Children’s Charity we help children living with illness, disability and serious health challenges to feel better using the proven power of laughter. Our vision is to contribute to the wellbeing of children in the 22 hospitals and specialist care centres we visit across England, as well as those we support virtually. Our Giggle Doctors are specially trained performers who are able to visit children in a clinical setting or through the Virtual Visit Programme.

Our history
Theodora Children’s Charity was founded in Switzerland in 1994 by André and Jan Poulie in memory of their mother Théodora.
In the UK, the first hospital visited by the Giggle Doctors was Great Ormond Street, in April 1994. Over the last 28 years we have continued to create magical moments for thousands of children across the country receiving medical treatment through our bedside and Virtual Visits.

Stories from children and families
We regularly receive stories from parents about their child’s experience of meeting a Giggle Doctor and the positive effects it had
